So if you do the hook up and sleep with someone unexpectedly is it fair game to ask someone afterward if they are looking to date for a ltr or just wanting casual sex? I usually don't ask and wait a little while and see what happens or hang out again..but maybe its better just to ask out right rather then to get your hopes up. But I don't want to ruin it by putting the guy on the spot. What do you think?

Yes it is fair game If there was no "one-time thing" agreed upon before hand it is a valid discussion. You may want to be carefull in how it is asked but you should be okay. Besides if the hook up runs away then you have the answer anyway.

of course it's fair game that doesn't mean it's the best course of action to ask right away, it could be a bit off putting. but i tend to like to make intentions clear sooner rather than later. after a second time of sleeping together, it is certainly more than fair game and more or less SHOULD be brought up to avoid confusion/hurt feelings for anyone.
